Lisa Swerdlow is an independent artist whose solo piano compositions are featured on her debut CD Equus Rising (2017) and her latest release, Voyager. After 20 years in the Bay Area, Lisa moved to Grass Valley, California in 2008 and created a life centered on the rhythms of the seasons and the inspiration of her horses, her garden and the Sierra Nevada foothills. After a long hiatus, she found her way back to the piano and was newly inspired to compose and perform her original music. In the tradition of George Winston, David Lanz, and Michele McLaughlin, Lisa's music is emotionally evocative and uniquely expressive - each piece takes you on a journey.

Born in Los Angeles, Lisa began playing piano at the age of six years old.  She studied until age 11 when Lisa discovered the guitar and started writing songs on the guitar.  She later returned to the piano  when she was sixteen after being inspired by Carole King and Laura Nyro.  Piano was once again her first love and her avenue of creativity.
In her 20’s and 30’s she played in Rock N Roll bands, Salsa bands and as a solo pianist at music festivals.  Lisa studied piano with a variety of teachers from Jazz to Salsa to Blues and Classical.  All these genres have informed her unique composing style.
“I believe music can be a vehicle to healing our hearts as well as healing the planet.  I hope that my music enters people’s hearts and souls and lifts up their spirit.”

Lisa lives in the Sierra foothills with her wife, Lucie, and her three horses and one cat, Tuxedo.  She currently plays and composes on a Yamaha C3xSP and a Roland LX7.
